DRAGON QUEST VII Reimagined

While I did hear the rumors about DQVII being remade (or reimagined), I was really surprised it was made official. DRAGON QUEST VII is one of my favorite childhood RPG games on the Playstation 1. I was first introduced to Dragon Warrior III for the Game Boy Color (never got the chance to play the NES version) after being obsessed with Dragon Ball. I learned that Akira Toriyama did the character design for the game and got interested.

I definitely… sucked at it. I went out into the world and already my character was in a moving coffin. But it didn’t stop me from continuing. Little ol’ me go lucky by hitting that board game glitch where the Hero goes to level 99. I did not know it was a glitch, I thought it was some super lucky winning award. But I did level all my characters to max and completed the game.

Then I got Dragon Warrior VII. I played the heck out of the game. Completed everything from mini medals, to all jobs and bosses. It was probably one of the longest games I’ve played, I think.

I was pretty surprised with all these fast remakes really. I was really happy with the remake of III. It was so beautiful in 2D-3D. I’m still… playing I&II. I’m struggling with that one, but I won’t talk about it until I’m fully done with it. Heck, that didn’t give me enough time to finish it, now with VII coming out soon.

A demo came out as well. I got to play it. I was worried about it at first because I really wanted it to have the 2D-3D treatment. But I forgot that it did have a remake on the DS. I never owned one (until now), but to be honest, I didn’t have any interest in playing it because I didn’t like how it looked in 3D. So when I saw the first announcement, I really didn’t know how to feel.

As I got into the introduction, I started warming up to it. I really liked how the details were added so far. And voice acting! It’s not amazing, but the DQ series has this… cringe when it comes to it. But I’ve heard way worse really. SE did mention about changing many things to the story because the game is very long in the original. I don’t know how much has changed. I already noticed it when you enter the Shrine the first time. The long trial is gone. But so far, I have preordered the game! I’m excited about it.

But that’s my tiny thoughts so far. Don’t expect a grand review of games I play. I will talk about more when I get the full game.
